Lehigh Valley Rollergirls Open Recruit - May 20th

So you think you have what it takes to rip up the track, knock down the opposition, and join a great fun loving sports family?

We are looking for new skaters and are introducing our FAST TRACK option along with our New Recruit Boot Camp.  On May 20th, we will be hosting a New Recruit Orientation so that you can find out more about joining our team.

We will introduce to you some of our current skaters, explain the requirements to join the team and give you the low down on how to become a Lehigh Valley Rollergirl.

When joining our league, you will be asked to take a preliminary assessment based on the WFTDA minimum skills. The minimum skills requirements are found here: http://wftda.com/resources/wftda-minimum-skill-requirements.pdf

If you fully pass this assessment, you will be given the FAST TRACK option to become a full member. If you do not pass the assessment, but are able to meet our minimum New Recruit requirements, you will asked to join our New Recruit Boot Camp. This camp lasts about 7 weeks and will teach you all of the skills to become a roller girl.

Here's what to expect:

May 20th - 7:00p.m.  New Recruit Orientation

You’ll be introduced to some of the skaters and get a synopsis of what is expected at practice. You will learn a little bit about our history, our practices and of course, you will see a demonstration of what to expect at try-outs.

May 23rd -8:00p.m. New Recruit Try-Outs

Here’s what you should expect to perform to be accepted into our New Recruit Boot Camp program:

 - Balance (Skate around the track balancing on one leg on the straight aways)
-Cross Overs (Skating in good stance while performing cross overs)
-One Knee Falls (Showing a proficiency in falling safely on one knee and returning to a good skating stance)
 - Plow Stops (Showing a proficiency in stopping safely using a plow stop and returning to a good skating stance)
 - 2 Minute Timed Laps (Minimum 8 laps)

Any skater who passes the try-out with proficiency will be invited to the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls New Recruit Boot Camp Training.

Skaters who pass the New Recruit minimum standards and wish to be tested on the full WFTDA minimum skills requirements at this time to qualify for FULL status may also do so.

May 30th - First Day of the New Recruit Boot Camp Training

What does our boot camp entail? It is approximately 7 weeks of training a long side our veterans teaching you all the basics and advanced moves and skills to become a roller girl. It is intense and rewarding. In no time, after completing the training, you will be scrimmage eligible and able to make rosters for game play.

All functions will be held at the Independence Family Fun Center, 4345 Independence Dr, Schnecksville, PA.

If you are interested in becoming a FULL or RECREATIONAL member of LVRG  or would like to try out for our New Recruit Boot Camp, please contact us for more information.
