This
weekend, the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls (LVRG) are set to play Mother State, a
WFTDA (Womens Flat Track Derby Association) apprentice league. Don't let the term "apprentice league" fool you. This team should not be taken lightly. Traveling a long distance from Richmond,
VA, the Mother State roller derby team, with only seven skaters, is build like
a fleet of robots. These women have been making a name for themselves up and
down the east coast and are ready to take on the WFTDA circuit.
According
to flattrackstats.com, Mother State is the heavy favorite for this weekend’s
match up against LVRG’s Hissy Fits. Mother State is predicted to have a 70% chance
of winning over LVRG, with an expected 5:4 point advantage. What this means is that it is expected that
for every 5 points Mother State earns, LVRG is expected to earn 4 points.
All
statistics aside, LVRG has been developing new strategies and has looked very
strong in the last couple weeks of training prior to this bout. This surely
will be an all out war on the track. You don't want to miss the battle, so come out to see the action this Saturday, April 6th. The doors open at
5:00p.m.,whistle at 6:00p.m.
Smash a pie in the face of your favorite Roller Girl this weekend |
LVRG has
one more thing in store for their fans this weekend. We all know that the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls
are dedicated to providing an opportunity for women athletes to achieve their
maximum potential, both athletically and intellectually through the sport of
roller derby, but what about our fans?
LVRG has the best fans in the Lehigh Valley and we want to give them the opportunity to let our skaters know how much they love LVRG by throwing a PIE IN THE FACE of their favorite player. That’s right, throughout the game, come visit our merchandise table and you will find jars with each skater’s pretty mug shot on it. Drop in your loose change or a few dollars into your favorite skater’s jar, and at the end of the bout, whichever skater’s jar has the most donations, BAM!!!!!! She gets slammed in the face with a whip creamed pie….ahhh can you say HIGH BLOCK MAJOR?!?!
